Should I Enter the Weight for One or Two Dumbbells?

Both Approaches Work

The short answer:
Either method works, and our adaptive algorithm can handle both.

You can log the weight of:

  • One dumbbell (e.g., 20 lbs), or

  • The combined total (e.g., 40 lbs for two 20 lbs dumbbells)

The progression system will continue to adapt based on your inputs, so you won't break anything by choosing one or the other.

📊 Why You Might Want to Use the Total (Both Dumbbells)

If you want your training volume and workload calculations (like total volume lifted or weekly tonnage) to reflect your actual effort more precisely, it makes sense to log the sum of both dumbbells.

For example:

  • 3 sets of 10 reps with two 20 lbs dumbbells
→ Log as 40 lbs for better total workload tracking.

This is especially helpful if you’re using metrics to monitor recovery, compare sessions, or dial in peak phases.

🔁 Consistency Is Key

Whichever method you go with, the most important thing is to be consistent. This helps the algorithm track your progress accurately over time.
